Dragon are a near-extinct species that once roamed the world of The Eminence in Shadow.
Appearances[]
It is speculated that originally, the dragons had their normal appearance, known; In other words, their large bodies, their 2 large wings, their 2 enormous legs, (sometimes four), strong spear-like claws, on its feet and partly on its wings, their enormous tail and their skull where they could spit their deadly fire.
But with the arrival of magic to the world, the ancient dragons could not adapt to these abrupt changes, because of the magic that made them mutate, so almost all of them died, but those that could, changed radically in different aspects, gaining with it changes in their physiology, which differentiated them one from the other, according to the element that each one dominated, (until now it is unknown what these changes were, except for the Mist Dragon).
History[]
10 million years ago, a species of Dragon called Ancient Wyrms, which is an older type from the dragon race were once the rulers of the world until the realms started colliding. The world collided with a realm that possessed Magic which poured into the former. Unable to adapt to magic, the Dragon went into decline and succeeded by humans which they become prospered where the dragons once thrived.[1]
Centuries later, only a few dragons remained. One such dragon being the Mist Dragon that attacked the ancient capital, Alexandria and used it as it's resting place. Once in a while, people would report about sightings of dragons.[2]

Biology[]
Before the Magic[]
Before magic arrived, their biology was normal, that of a large Dragon, with the ability to fly very fast, resist the lows and highs, natural temperatures of the ecosystem, where they lived, with the ability to reproduce naturally, the power spitting fire, a skin as hard as metal, and with a very long longevity, which made them live several centuries, completing the millennium of useful life and a little more.
After the magic[]
After the magic encompassed and reproduced in the world, almost all the dragons perished, but the ones that managed to adapt, gained the ability to use magic in multiple ways, with an eternal body, and almost immortal (not immortal itself, but practically), with a lot of magic and magic recovery. At the same time, the magic caused their brains to undergo much change, which caused them to give intelligence and self-awareness more clearly and self-aware than before in the past. However, it has also been stated that a dragon is also capable of losing said intelligence and self awareness if they over indulge themselves and lose any matter of motivation now that they no longer possessed natural predators.
The Mist Dragon has also stated that these abilities were given to them as part of evolution and as such, If someone were to find the evolutionary origin of a Dragon, they would be able to strip them of all their powers and kill them.
This also made his normal qualities, such as his natural resistances, tough skin, and so on, become even tougher and stronger than normal.
