The Midgar Academy for Dark Knights (ミドガル
Overview[]
The Midgar Academy is known as one of the top leading magic swordsman academies on the continent, where promising knights gather to hone their talents not only from Midgar Kingdom, but all over the world. In Midgar, all royalty and nobility must attend this academy as a formality. When the children of aristocrats with magical powers turn 15 years of age, they are obliged to enroll in the Academy when they begin to attend their education at a school in the royal capital for a period of 3 years.
There are disparities depending on the status and ability of the family, and those with high status and ability can live near the school, while the students of lesser status live in dormitories off-campus. The Academy itself is a massive building that apparently shares their campus with the Midgar Academy of Science, where they conduct scientific research with item development-- such as train engines or artifact studies.

Background[]
Chronology[]
Claire Kagenou Abduction[]
Before Cid attended the Academy, Claire Kagenou was preparing to enroll but was abducted while making preparation for her departure to the Midgar Kingdom capital by the Cult of Diablos, who infiltrated her family home. She was kidnapped and held inside a dungeon where she learned that her kidnapper was Viscount Grease, planning to use her for their experiments. Unbeknownst to her, she was rescued by Cid and a fledgling Shadow Garden, returning safely home under her own power. After a week of her treatments and follow-up investigations, Claire left for the Academy and worked her way to being an honor student and living in a dormitory near the Academy.[1]
Princess Alexia's Kidnapping[]
When Cid Kagenou turned 15 years old, he went on to enroll the Academy and study accordingly. For the first two months, Cid had purposely maintained his grades somewhere slightly below average, setting to the most optimum position for a mob character and made friends with other lesser students- Skel Etal and Po Tato. Cid attempted to fulfill a common mob character trope by asking the popular girl to a date but failing, but instead was accepted and was dating Princess Alexia, who was actually dating him to spite her fiancé, Zenon Griffey. After a couple weeks, Alexia was abducted and the Knight Order held Cid under heavy interrogation as the Cult began experimenting on her. Cid was freed before he led Shadow Garden's public debut as Shadow and battled Zenon Griffey to a one-sided victory. With Alexia returned and a massive crater in the city, Shadow Garden exposed the Cult to the proper authorities alongside their own existence.
Midgar Academy Terrorism Attack[]
Following Princess Alexia's rescue, the academy was promptly attacked by men in black cloaks pretending to be Shadow Garden indiscriminately attacking students. Using the Eye of Avarice to suppress student magic. This was a measure by Lutheran Barnett to cover up the Cult's theft of the artifact used while the Third Children held the student body in the auditorium. However, Cid Kagenou chipped away at their forces outside the auditorium and helped Sherry Barnett develop a countermeasure to the Eye, allowing the students to retaliate before the real Shadow Garden arrived to end the danger. Cid confronted Lutheran Barnett, who planted evidence against Shadow Garden and confessed to killing Sherry's mother and was killed by Shadow while Sherry was left traumatized. Shadow is labeled a public enemy for crimes set up by the Cult, the Academy is closed for repairs and grants an early summer vacation, while Sherry travels to Laugus for her studies and quietly plots revenge on Shadow for her father's death.
