What TEIS Wiki is Not! |
The Eminence in Shadow Wiki Rules establish policies of conduct and responsibilities the user must follow while participating on the website. They further outline consequences for rule infringement and Fandom’s terms of use. Please observe and read all the rule pages before editing; reading one is insufficient.
Administrators and moderators will work to ensure the integrity of articles; however, they cannot be continuously active. If you notice article vandalism, revert it.
General Rules[]
Summary[]
The entire page offers detailed descriptions for our community's rules, but they can be summarized as the following:
- No Vandalism
- Maintain Civil Discourse
- Post in Concise English
- No Irrelevant Content, such as spam or gibberish
- Give Reasons For Major Edits
- Observe Neutrality
- Add Only Facts
Vandalism[]
Vandalism is the act of defacing articles or compromising their credibility and accuracy. Intentional vandalism will be addressed without reference to the usual progression of sanctions and will ordinarily result in a ban.
Unintentional Vandalism[]
Despite vandalism carrying a malicious connotation, occasionally, it is done in good faith. Flooding an article with raw or unintelligible content may constitute unintentional vandalism. Vandalism remains harmful, no matter the intent. Repeated offenses will carry penalties similar to deliberate defacing.
Community Civility[]
The Eminence in Shadow Wiki is a community website with many members. Multi-editor communication and disagreements are inevitable; please conduct a civil discussion. Please do not maliciously attack users' edits or character—even if you are correct. If you perceive the conversation has devolved into an argument or is about to become one, disengage. Contact administrators instead of continuing.
English Only[]
Although the original intellectual property is in Japanese, and The Eminence in Shadow Wiki has spawned a multinational community, please only post in English on this website. We do not expect everyone to have a doctorate in English, but to maintain article integrity, edits must demonstrate basic grammatical and spelling proficiency. The point of a community wiki is to build off of past additions, not for others to become anyone’s personal editor.
Language Consistency[]
When adding new terms and information to an article, refer to the official translations whenever possible. If medians use different translations, the light novel should be the priority.
Machine Translations[]
Raw machine translation work predominantly results in unintentional vandalism and can lead to sanctions. All machine translations should be reviewed and edited before posting.
Reverting Contributions[]
Edits and revisions are inevitable in a community wiki. If an edit surpasses minor changes, please supply a reason or justification for the modification. The change note box allows for 500 characters; make use of it! If you find the character limit insufficient or need further explanation, seek the user's wall or the article talk page.
Irrelevant Content[]
Information about The Eminence in Shadow and related subject matter should be the only items on the website. Irrelevant content such as nonessential pages, excessive redirects, gibberish, invalid images, or racial slurs are prohibited. Unless it is a direct quotation from the original work and is being employed in an appropriate area, further vulgar language is categorized as irrelevant. If you see an article that infringes on this rule, nominate it for deletion by adding {{delete}} to the article.
Spam[]
The Eminence in Shadow Wiki prohibits advertising and irrelevant outside links. Such actions are classified as spam. Posting spam will result in a permanent ban.
Plagiarism[]
Plagiarism, in any form, is wrong and is strictly prohibited. We are our own Wiki. Do your own research and collaborate with your fellow editors to reach the right answer.
Placeholders[]
As a result of the ongoing state of The Eminence in Shadow, some lore or information has yet to be released or announced. For such circumstances, please do not leave acronym placeholders inside the article—TBA or TBC—leave it blank. If you wish to communicate that you will contribute something in the future, leave a comment or add a notice inside the change notes.
Article Neutrality[]
An online encyclopedia's job is to report and inform. Editors should convey sentences through neutral language and avoid bias. Practice impartiality by presenting all relevant viewpoints as necessary. If reporting on an articulated opinion, clearly identify the content as quoted material and attempt to present it as a verbatim clause.
Factual Content[]
The Wiki deals with the official light novel, anime, manga, and game. We ask and require that articles do not contain any conclusions, fan theories, or headcanon. It is fun to theorize but leave that to the power scalers and fan fiction authors. Consequently, adverbs and adjectives of probability should be avoided—possible, maybe, probably, likely, or presumably. If you have to include it in a sentence, chances are high it is not a fact.
Sources and Citations[]
Information without sources or citations runs contrary to the goal of presenting factual content. Editors must use reliable and official references. These requirements help maintain the integrity of articles and reduce the spread of misinformation. If you see a sentence missing sources, add {{Cite}} to the end of it.
The TEIS wiki staff reserves the right to remove any uncited articles or edits.
Wikia Ruleset[]
In addition to the following, please likewise follow Fandom’s Terms of Use. Wikia automatically includes a list of general rules on each Wiki. We observe them here as well. They are as follows:
- Edit and create pages! It's a wiki, that's what it's for! But if you make an edit that is not in good faith—trolling—you may face a block.
- Be civil. If you are not civil, you will receive a warning. If the behavior continues, you will be blocked for one week or longer due to inappropriate behavior. This duration could variably change depending on how the user responds to the ban.
- Obey all rules. If you do not, you will face the consequences of the admins.
- Assume Good-Faith. Try to consider the person on the other end of the discussion as a thinking, rational being trying to contribute positively to the project.
- Avoid Excessive Rollbacks. Do not succumb to the temptation unless you are undoing obvious vandalism or edits that contravene the rules. If you really cannot stand something, undo it with an edit summary explaining the change. Talk pages and walls exist for communication.
- No personal attacks! Do not insult other users, even if they are incorrect. Instead, explain what they did wrong, why it is wrong, and how to fix it. If possible, fix it yourself—see above for procedure. If you fail to treat them with respect, you will be administered a one-week ban. If you continue, you will receive an automatic permanent ban for harassment. If you continue, you will receive an automatic permanent ban for harassment.

User Equality[]
Equality on a wiki is the idea that all users can equally contribute despite individual limitations. These include but are not limited to age, writing skills, and language barriers. We will reasonably attempt to work with people to find suitable tasks that fit each user's abilities. Regardless of circumstances, users must still abide by the standards of conduct and the policies.
Progression of Consequences[]
Violations of this policy are subject to sanctions by staff. Administrators will typically follow this process:
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: 1-week block
- Third offense: 1-month block
- Fourth offense: 3-month block
- Fifth offense: Permanent block
In the case of severe violations, however, administrators may apply sanctions outside the standard progression. In addition, attempting to circumvent punishment by utilizing another account—ban evasion—can and usually will result in a permanent ban.
