Background[]
Saint's past within the Templars[]
Victoria was once known as "The Saint" of the Holy Church of Divine Teachings when she preached the Church's doctrine and told the legend of the Three Heroes who defeated the demon Diablos to believers, unknowingly that the Church had secretly administered a special medicine to Victoria so that could brainwash her into making her a public figure. Furthermore, Victoria is given special combat training that was more than the Paladin and made her to leads a radical organization formed by the Church's extremist faction called the Templars which aggressively engages in exterminating the Possession.
Due to being the leader of the Templars, Victoria already knew about the Cult of Diablos which was an organization that already existed in the world since the time immemorial and the organization that had founded the church religion long ago after the Diablos era ended. As her duty as the Templars' leader, Victoria continued to carry out the duties from the Church to exercise the Inquisition rights properly and correctly so that these rights were not monopolized by the Cult.
Although Victoria are secretly leading the Templars working hidden in church dogma from behind the scenes, she had a public reputation to uphold as a saint who is an incarnation of the Goddess Beatrix's will and earned role as the Church's sacred prophetess until she gained wisdom through her contact with the outside world, that making her purely devotional faith become a passion in order to spreading the grace of the Goddess.
Prophecy of the Fateful Encounter[]
One day about two and a half years ago, Victoria appeared as a "Saint" in front of all the pilgrims who came to attend the cathedral to deliver sacred sermons in sharing her religion of Divine Teachings regarding the divinity of "Goddess Beatrix", as well as the historical story of the Three Heroes who defeated the Demon Diablos. During her continuing prayers and presentation stories to the public, Victoria felt a girl keep looking at her but she just turned her face towards the pilgrims which coincidentally where the girl was standing there, while at the same time paying curious attention to the girl present until her sermon finished in the afternoon and Victoria did not see the girl again who were mixed in the crowd.
In the evening, Victoria receives a report of an intruder breaking into the Templars secret headquarters which hidden beneath the cathedral and moves to confront the intruder who to her surprise and delight into joy that the intruder turns out to be the same Therianthrope girl who attended her sermon at noon. Victoria saw that the girl who had changed her appearance in order to outwit the Paladin guard who was chasing her and quietly blocking her way by covering her presence, until she came face to face with the girl which made the girl become surprised because she didn't detect her presence at all.
Victoria tried to approach her by starting to talk about her attend at today's sermon, which made the girl tell Victoria that she would not let her live because she had seen her face. However, Victoria replied that she did not see her until Victoria turned the girl's question by saying that she saw her just like earlier today. When a Paladin guard arrives and sees the intruder pointing a weapon at her, he intends to catch the intruder while protecting Victoria. But Victoria ordered the guard to leave and left the two alone after telling him that she would be fine, even saying that the girl is her friend, which the guard complies.
After the Paladin leaves, the girl asks Victoria what she plans to do, but she replies that she doesn't have any plans and says that the moment of their meeting was by the will of the Goddess, though the girl doesn't believe her words. Even when the girl told Victoria that she would attempt to kill her if it was within the will of the Goddess, Victoria told her that she would never hurt her and that she could not do so, despite there were many opportunities that the girl had as Victoria considering the girl as "friend". The girl tried to attack Victoria because she didn't accept what she said, but she suddenly reflexively backed away and the girl also realized after feeling what she was capable of. Learning their current conversation atmosphere, Victoria decided to let the girl go by saying that one day they would meet again and reunite them at the will of the "goddess Beatrix", which made the girl feel humiliated by her behavior.[1]
2 days later following her meeting, Victoria is given the task from the Church by carry out the Inquisition's order in leading the Templars to immediately secure girls afflicted with Possession after obtaining information about their traces of whereabouts before the Cult preceded their task. Arriving at their destination at night according to the information they received, Victoria, who was in the rear position to lead the backup forces, received a report from one of her subordinates that the Templars had been surrounded and were almost overwhelmed because they were under attack from a mysterious group that had attacked their army which made after they succeeded in eliminating the troops from the Cult.
Upon being informed of the fact, Victoria ordered all the Templars to go to the aid of their surviving comrades in the name of the Goddess, despite her subordinates insistent to tried to make Victoria stay put due to her position and it was too dangerous for her to decide to go there. However, Victoria said not to be afraid and said that the Templars would be protected under the "Goddess Beatrix" protection, to which Victoria and the Templars she led are launching an attack to rescue their companions who were in trouble.
After arriving at the place while rescuing her subordinates, Victoria apparently met with the leader who attacked and eliminated the Templars who came from a group called Shadow Garden. When Victoria asked Shadow Garden's leader about the attack reason, she replies that Victoria should have asked herself that the Templars had done so much evil in executing those who were possessed in the name of the inquisition. Victoria also replied that purifying those who were possessed was the will of the Goddess Beatrix, until Shadow Garden's leader retorted to her statement by speaking of her crimes, as if they were the will of a Goddess as she told Victoria that she and the Templars only murdering on the basis of purification, also telling that Shadow Garden exists to eliminate people like her from the shadows.
Moment later, Victoria was reunited with the Therianthrope girl before she dodged the Shadow Garden leader's attack which she realized that her strength was almost on par with her. When the girl named Zeta who was accompanying Shadow Garden's leader accuses her of following her, Victoria does not justify her answer because she only surprise to learned that Zeta is part of the Shadow Garden. Realizing Victoria's true identity as the leader of the Templars, Zeta intends to finish her by fighting her because he has seen her face after telling Shadow Garden's leader to deal with the Templars back up forces, though Victoria tells Zeta that she can't kill her, and she can't kill Zeta either as Victoria mentions that their reunion is the will of her Goddess.
While Shadow Garden's leader was fighting against the other Templars back up forces, Zeta comments to Victoria that everything they are doing is an unforgivable act of cruelty by using their inquisition name as the will of "Goddess Beatrix" against innocent girls suffering from the possessed symptoms. Even when Victoria tells her questioningly by claiming that the Possession existence is a sin, Zeta stated to her that she would understand if she has ever been possessed.
Hearing her answer, Victoria is surprised to realize that Zeta had once been possessed and managed to be cured, which made Victoria feel very happy saying that her recovery was a great blessing from the Goddess who had saved her friend. Although Zeta is irritated that Victoria keeps declaring her as "friend" to the point where she repandly rejects her assumed answer, Zeta also tells Victoria that if there are any blessings in this world, then they can only be the ones given by her lord.
Curious as Victoria heard her response, she asked Zeta who is her lord was before their conversation was interrupted by Shadow Garden's leader who was about to finish off the fleeing Templars. With the situation getting worse, Victoria risked her life to serve as rear guard for the Templars who wanted to escape until she decided to stand down before telling Zeta who has been blessed by the Goddess to look forward at their meeting again.[2]
Crisis of Faith[]
Faith and Conviction[]
Sometime later, Victoria reappears in a suspicious and clumsy appearance, confronting Zeta again, where she discovers that Victoria is acting and fighting in a very clumsy manner and suspects, babbling repeatedly, that she is "Die, Apostate...". During their confrontation, Zeta noticed that Victoria emanated a very strong unpleasant odor, the same stench he smelled the first time he met Victoria in church, while they were fighting, Zeta criticizes Victoria about what kind of way to fight that is, neglecting her subordinates and attacking so clumsily, saying that in the end, that story, that they are "friends", turned out to be in the end in a lie.
Upon hearing this, Victoria began to hesitate, about the words that Zeta told her, about being "friends", which made Zeta begin to suspect something, and about the aroma that Victoria carried with her, while they continued fighting. These words caused Victoria to stop fighting for a few moments and began to react and recognize Zeta, saying that they are indeed friends, but Victoria began to feel severe headaches, flattering herself that she heard the voice of the "Goddess Beatrice", telling her that she must kill to the enemies.
While Victoria resisted the "voice of the goddess Beatriz", her hair changed color from a bright blonde to a light purple. Zeta, upon seeing this, persisted that said goddess was nothing more than a lie, to which Victoria She continues to refuse to believe it, since she has always faithfully followed the teachings and oracular messages of the goddess. Zeta criticized her for what kind of goddess would ask a faithful and stupid believer to kill her friend, without any justification, to which Victoria, in her state of continuous pain, agrees with Zeta, which causes her to begin to Question your faith and beliefs about the "Goddess Beatrice".
But when Zeta's reinforcements, No.111 and No.122, arrived, Victoria, in her ailments, escapes from the place to which Zeta tells her not to pursue her, even giving Victoria the chance to find the truth for herself.[3]
Tragedy and changed fate[]
When one day Victoria began to display symptoms of "Possession" and turned to her superiors and pray for help, only to have everyone who ever revered her, and trusted, disown her, humiliate her, and strip her of everything before imprisoning her. While she was experiencing all this, she realized that everything her "friend" said about her, Zeta about her, about the possessed and how bad everything was true. while she was disowned and other ugly things that she said and did, Victoria underwent a strong drastic change in her personality, losing practically everything that once represented her before, both her faith, her kindness, belief and other things, to the point of almost completely believing that the supposed "goddess Beatrix", in which I believed so much and had a lot of faith, did not really exist. When the leaders of the Cult of Diablos were informed of this, they concluded that they could no longer use Victoria, and that they could look for another, to take Victoria's place, because they decided, through the church, that Victoria should be sentenced to be executed.
On the day of her execution, Victoria already lost all hope of being saved, but unknowingly, Cid Kagenou passed by and saved her using his Shadow persona, granting her power to fight, while also curing Victoria from Possession. Victoria witnessing the event, fell madly in love with Cid, seeing him as someone divine, recovering with him a part of her old personality along with her old habits. Shortly after, Victoria was recruited in Shadow Garden, revealing to her that all her suspicions and other things that Zeta had told to her were true. The revelation causing all the pain, humiliation, and trauma she suffered while she was a victim of possession to return with a tremendous hatred, bitterness, coldness, and apathy in her personality. Now apart from Shadow, Victoria was a person that was almost the total opposite of her original self, to what she once was as the Saint, but she managed to conceive with herself, part of what she had, clinging only to his "divine" lord Shadow and a respect to the Seven Shadows.
Once inside Shadow Garden, Victoria quickly rose through the ranks and earned a reputation for having skills on par with the Seven Shadows. Her ability increased to such an extent that she was recognized by the Seven Shadows, and she is expected to become part of the new Seven Shadows, even though her fanatical loyalty to Shadow drew too much attention and made her a stray bullet sometimes. Victoria once challenged 89 so she could earn the right to challenge Numbers. Knowing that she had only recently joined and their difference in seniority was nearly five hundred gaps, 89 believed her victory was assured. But with the power she received from her master, Victoria won and then earned the right to challenge the Numbers.[4]
In the Anime shortly after the events of the Bushin Festival, Victoria is seen sparring with another member of Shadow Garden (presumably No. 89 in her challenge) at Alexandria, the Shadow Garden base of operations which is the old capital of the Midgar Kingdom.[5]
At some point, Victoria secretly joins Zeta's branch faction with the objective to make her lord, Shadow immortal by reviving Demon Diablos.
Volume 4[]
Oriana's "Black Rose"[]
Victoria is assigned to carry out a reconnaissance mission with a squad at her command to gather information about the Cult of Diablos' activities in Oriana Kingdom which is now in a war torn state due to the civil war, after receiving a report that the Cult had mobilized 40 First Children to the Fort First which had already fallen into the hands of the Perv Asshat's faction two days ago. After being given the mandate to appoint which squad, she leads, Victoria took over the leadership of 664's squad in assisting her which she summons 664, 665 and especially Rose Oriana (666) for the mission.
Upon their arrival after learning of the task they had been given, Victoria gave few details regarding their mission in investigating the Cult's plan to send their strongest troops to the Fort First which was nothing more than a small fortress near the Midgar Kingdom's border of little strategic value, feeling that there is something hidden behind the fort with Victoria explaining that their mission this time is to infiltrate by sneak in and find out what the Cult is after.
When Victoria later asked 666 for the reason why she is chosen to carry out the mission by her answer that she knowing the Fort First's layout, Victoria replied that she is the one who nominated her in participating in this mission at the same time she called her real name with the reason that she had been given power directly from Shadow which made her teammates surprised after hearing her statement, even Victoria responded back to Rose by revealing that she is also given power from Shadow which made the two of them were the only one who receive this privilege after being given power from Shadow aside from the Seven Shadows. Victoria expressed disdain towards Rose and believed that she isn't worthy of the power she received, telling her that if she becomes a liability for her mission, they will leave her behind.
During reconnaissance, they had followed the Cult's group and tried to approach them by covering themselves with trees which made them realize that their numbers were more than expected until they arrived at the historical ruins that were in the forest behind the fortress. Victoria saw that one of the Cult leaders, Kouadoi the Gale, leading a person who turned out to be Queen Reina Oriana, Rose's mother who is stretching her hand towards the altar until the ring appeared before her. Sensing that the ring is "key" to the mission, Victoria tells the 664 squad to be ready for fight and decides to retrieve the ring from the Cult without failure. Rose also tries to comprehend Victoria that her mother is there but is ignored as the queen is involved with the Cult regardless of whether she is being held hostage or not.
Then in a flash, Victoria charged straight at the Cult's group while massacring a few of their members. By the time Victoria wanted to lunge at the queen, Rose intervened by attempting to save her mother from Victoria's onslaught. This led to Rose and the Queen being captured and taken as hostages. The Cult tried to use the hostages as leverage from Victoria's squad, but she responded that Rose is unfit to serve Shadow Garden even declared her a traitor for her brash behavior before launching herself at the remaining members group of the Cult "First Children". During that time, Kouadoi sent Rose and the Queen to Duke Perv Asshat at the capital.
For continuous three days and nights, Victoria almost single-handedly battles against a large squadron of Cult's high-ranking members even their reinforcements until the entire Cult group was almost eliminated. However, Victoria and her squad sustained severe injuries and exhaustion as a result of her onslaught. Victoria is nearly killed by Kouadoi who survived until Shadow intervened to finish him off. Shadow asked Victoria to explain what happened, to which she briefed him in an infatuating way on what had happened before telling him that 666 had betrayed them. Believing that he was seething for her betrayal, Victoria tried calming him down but in reality, Cid was confused to who exactly was 666. [4]
Later, Victoria and her superior, Epsilon discuss about Rose's situation and the queen's involvement in an Oriana branch of Mitsugoshi hotel. Epsilon understood her brash behavior and took partial responsibility for keeping her in the dark however, Victoria insisted that she betrayed them, and that Shadow disposed her. Epsilon retorted that he did not do anything to her before they dwelled on what burden their master carries. They returned to the report to confirm the Black Rose's legitimacy and retrieval before being once again derailed by their master's sudden appearance. The two were affectionately startled by him and competed to see whom of them can delight him. Cid revealed that he figured out the problem and that he'll get rid of the root in a day.[6]
Novel/Manga[]
Victoria plays a role semi-apart from everything, when the "black rose" is unleashed from the capital of the kingdom of Oriana, waiting for new orders from her superiors.
Anime/Game[]
Victoria infiltrates along with the other members of Shadow Garden, in disguise, at Rose Orianna's wedding, until the Black Rose is activated, and while the civilians were evacuating, Shadow appears while playing the piano, giving the order to attack, to which Victoria and the other members act to attack.[7]
During the course of the battle in which Epsilon and Beta manage to defeat Mordred, Victoria comes to report to them that she and the other members have defeated all the magical beasts of the capital summoned by the demon king Ragnarok, while finishing his fight. report, Victoria looks with suspicion and bitterness at Rose Oriana, having to tolerate her actions. While Shadow fought against a Mordred transformed into a Demon for ingesting the flesh of Ragnarok, outside the planet, Victoria, along with the others present, witness the supreme glow of "I Am Atomic", from her lord Shadow, sometime later when they descend nearby. From the ground, he sees his lord being absorbed by a vortex of the Black Rose, along with Beta.
Return to Earth[]
During a meeting in the director's office at the Mitsugoshi deluxe hotel to discuss about making a decision for Rose Oriana about her own kingdom situation, Victoria report to Alpha and Epsilon that Shadow and Beta had returned from another world after entering the Black Rose.
Victoria stated that Shadow is heading for Midgar Kingdom in quite in a hurry due to the Academy winter vacation is almost over that Alpha suspected that there might be something important happening at the Academy, whether related to the Cult of Diablos or perhaps even Diablos. Victoria also later reports to Alpha that Zeta had joined Shadow at the Academy after returning from her mission, without reporting to her and saying that Beta has brought a few interesting things back with her during her time in the Realms.[8] Shortly after finishing the meeting to make Rose the new monarch of Oriana Kingdom, Victoria rushed to Midgar Academy to carry out a "mission" with Zeta.
Volume 5[]
The Academy Disappearances[]
Arriving at the Midgar Academy for Dark Knights, Victoria is summoned by Zeta when she killed Named Child Jean after saving Claire Kagenou from a world-dimensional prison called Sanctuary. Zeta tells Victoria that she has confirmed Aurora's presence inside Claire's body which is now become the witch's vessel, according to their expectations and states that the Cult of Diablos itself does not know about Claire's secret, even Zeta intends to change their plans. Before Zeta left and leaving Victoria behind, she tells her to warn Nina about the change of plans as Victoria stands there waving and smiling after Zeta disappears.
Not long after during that time, Victoria joined Zeta along with Nina to break through the Sanctuary's defense system to the deepest part when they were being watched by someone.[9] The next night, Victoria gives a report to Nina to tell Zeta that Fenrir has been cornered after master Shadow managed to save Claire and Princess Alexia Midgar by interfering in the plan for their capture prepared by the Head Librarian.[10]
Days later at night, Victoria and Nina have gathered before Zeta after saying that the time of their long-awaited plan has come on the mission to resurrect the Demon Diablos. When Victoria wanted to ask what master Shadow said to her, Zeta replied that they were just chatting and even she didn't intend to get permission to carry out her plan in the first place by responding that she would stop if he stopped her, indicating that master Shadow would not stop her actions.
After saying that all her actions would start from here which made Victoria say that she would betray Shadow Garden, Zeta didn't care about that because she was different compared to Alpha's ways who had no vision after defeating the Cult for being too kind as she want her plan to resurrect the demon Diablos in order to gain eternal life to make Shadow a god and will rule the world. Hearing that Zeta will take on all sins in seeking eternal life for her master, Victoria and Nina decide to leave in order to continue their plan for the glory of master Shadow.[11]
After master Shadow had finished off Fenrir when Nina had told Zeta that all the preparations were in place, Victoria praised her job well and even tried to get her to join Shadow Garden because she felt Nina could become a Numbers in no time with her powers before Zeta clarified that Nina shouldn't be in Shadow Garden, revealing that she would never betray her duty by being able to move freely on her own. Victoria also stated to make plans to create new teachings because this world does not need the Holy Church of Divine Teachings. When the process of merging Diablos' right arm into Claire's body is successful, Victoria and Zeta then decided to leave Sanctuary with Nina keeping an eye on Claire.[12] After the mission was successfully carried out, Victoria followed by several Numbers under Zeta's leadership immediately destroyed the remnants of Fenrir's Sect faction in less than half a day by taking advantage of Fenrir's death.
